Northgate
High School currently has no aquatics facility to
house its water polo and swim teams and to accommodate
its popular and growing aquatics programs. The original plans for
Northgate included a pool, but it was not constructed
due to lack of funds. Currently, coaches have to locate
a pool for every season, and our student athletes must
travel to practice at remote pools at inconvenient times.
A
new aquatics center will permit on-campus programs
for all students. Plans include a 50-meter Olympic pool, 1-
and 3-meter diving boards, a new bathhouse with locker
rooms, new office space, and a dry-land training area.
The building will also include a new multi-purpose room
to house the growing dance, wrestling, and sports medicine
programs as well as provide more space for physical education
programs.
Many
local recreational and year-round swim clubs and
water polo teams could make use of the new center. Handicapped
access could make community health and exercise
programs available to more area residents.
